Ditto Clipboard Manager
Ditto is an incredibly resourceful clipboard manager and an almost irreplaceable part of my software toolbox. It's available only for Windows Os, but it's free software released under the GPL3 license.
My favorite way to install Ditto is to download the portable 64-bit zip file and then extract it into the user's home folder. The executable (Ditto.exe) will be therefore located in the %UserProfile%\Ditto\ folder.
Inside this folder, the default Ditto.Settings configuration file can be replaced with my personal one in case you would like to mirror my configuration.
Alternatively, click the three dots (...) at the right bottom corner of Ditto's graphical interface and select Options..., as shown below.
The below General tab shows my most important settings, I have also renamed the database to myclipboard.db. Ditto keeps the clipboard history in a sqlite3 database. The structure of the database it's rather simple, and it can be displayed with DB browser for SQLite.
I have also defined the following hotkeys:
CTRL ~ | Activate Ditto |
CTRL Alt ~ | Delete clipboard data |
CTRL Alt ' | Toggle clipboard connection |
Create a note from a recent clipboard history
I use a simple four-step workflow to quickly generate a note from my clipboard history. When Ditto isn't active the border of the UI window turns red.
1. Delete all clipboard data.
2. Activate clipboard connection.
3. Copy to the clipboard all the relevant text.
4. Open wintermnote and press ~.
